2023 Toyota Corolla GR Colors, Specs, Exterior & Interior

It’s no secret that Toyota has a “poisonous” compact hatchback whose performance is not inferior to the legendary sports car. One such example is the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR hatchback.

The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla’s colors include Super White, Fleet Only, Midnight Black Metallic, and Supersonic Red for the Core trim, whereas the Circuit Edition replaces black with Heavy Metal.

This time, the manufacturer is pleased with the updated hatchback. Despite the fact that many companies are racing for electric cars, the decision was made to introduce a classic version of the hot hatchback.

Under the hood is a petrol engine, and it is paired with a manual gearbox. According to company representatives, sales of the new 2023 Toyota Corolla GR are expected in the US and Japan in the second half of 2022.

As for the European region, the charged version is expected no earlier than 2023. The debut of the all-wheel drive novelty takes place in 2020.

The compact hatchback loaded with the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR has truly become a cult. Many motorists note its dynamics, performance and design.

We can say that there are no analogues on the modern market. The new 2023 Toyota Corolla GR is currently only available in Japan and Europe.

The order of magnitude “worse” would be the Toyota GRMN Yaris, with modified body parts and chassis. This modification is only available in Japan.

As for the GR Corolla, the manufacturer is expanding the list of countries to which the new product will be delivered in every possible way.

Not long ago, the premiere of the new 2023 Toyota Corolla GR took place in the United States (California). Only left hand modifications are shown at the exhibition.

It is clear that a right-hand modification will be offered for Japan. Regardless of the country of delivery, all copies of the Toyota GR Corolla will be assembled in Japan, at the Motomachi plant.

Now about the most stocked hatchbacks. The base of the new GR is taken from the regular five-door hatchback Toyota Corolla of the latest generation.

Nevertheless, the body has improved significantly. Instead of a conventional roof, carbon fiber is used. The hatchback hood and front door are made of aluminum.

Front fender increased by 20 mm, rear fender increased by 30 mm. Between the rear suspension struts, the manufacturer installs power struts.

An amplifier was also added near the center tunnel between the front seats and in the gas tank area.

Front fenders with ventilation holes will immediately distinguish the GR Corolla from the regular version, and a small sports spoiler will be installed in the trunk lid.

The sporty character of the novelty is given by the front bumper with a large open grille, resembling a predator’s mouth.

No less surprising is the rear bumper, which will receive three exhaust tips, two on the sides and one in the middle. One tip per cylinder.

Under the hood of the new 2023 Toyota Corolla GR hatchback is a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine from the G16E-GTS series.

It was taken from the GR Yaris hatchback, but finished and upgraded. It used to be 272 hp, now it’s 304 hp. The torque remains the same – a maximum of 370 Nm.

The gearbox is also borrowed from the GR Yaris, a 6-speed iMT manual transmission. It automatically adjusts the engine speed for optimal gearshift.

A big plus for such a compact hatchback is all-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch. The rear axle of the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR hatchback will be at the forefront.

The clutch itself continues to work with preload. Depending on the selected mode, 40%, 50% or 70% of the total engine power will be transferred to the rear axle.

If this is not enough, then for a separate surcharge, the buyer is offered a Torsen differential that can lock itself on the front or rear axle. By default, there is a free difference.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla GR in this photo is the Circuit Edition package. Compared to the base version, these instances receive the autolock difference in the standard set.

Black glossy decorations are installed all around, and a more developed sports spoiler is fitted to the rear. The hood of such a hatchback has become stooped, with a pair of mesh holes.

The cover of such a hatchback is made of “forged” carbon fiber (usually woven carbon is used). Due to this approach, the image on the roof becomes rare and interesting.

Now about the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR suspension. The classic McPherson version is installed at the front, and independent suspension on double wishbones at the rear.

When compared to the regular version of the Corolla hatchback, the charge track version is 60 mm larger at the front and 85 mm at the rear.

It’s clear that the springs for the GR Corolla are their own, as are the anti-roll bars and shock absorbers.

Adjustment of the suspension along with the steering is carried out both on flat asphalt surfaces and on dirt roads.

Due to this, the hatchback really became universal and rally. The basis of the novelty are regular 18-inch wheels, with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires at 235/40.

The new salon hatchback 2023 Toyota Corolla GR has gotten a pair of sports seats, with suede upholstery. A sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals and classic handbrake are also installed.

However, there are modern details, such as a digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch display. It was developed specifically for this model. The center of the panel is taken below the 8″ screen of the multimedia system.

If this is not enough, then for a separate surcharge, the buyer is offered heated front seats and a steering wheel. A plus is the JBL premium audio system and 8 speakers.

For hatchback safety, the TSS 3.0 (Toyota Safety Sense) package is standard here. According to preliminary data, the curb weight of the Toyota GR Corolla hatchback is 1,475 kg.

The volume of the fuel tank is 50 liters. Regarding the price and dynamic characteristics, the manufacturer does not provide any data.
