New Lancia Ypsilon (2024) – The aging Italian will finally hand over to a brand new model next year, taking advantage of the integration of its brand under the Stellantis fold. A first recovery plan which will be followed, a few years later, by the launch of a compact SUV, but also of a compact potentially renamed Delta.
Made in Spain
While our colleagues from L’Argus revealed, a few weeks ago, the migration of production of the future restyled Peugeot e-208 to the Zaragoza factory, the Italian press understands that this arrival in Spain, alongside the Opel Corsa, will coincide with the introduction of a third city car. It is a question of relaunching as quickly as possible the dusty firm Lancia, in which Carlos Tavarès, at the head of the Stellantis group, still wants to believe.
Classy positioning
It is therefore at little cost, as the Corsa was developed on the basis of the 208, that the new Ypsilon will be reborn from its ashes. A comeback that will not prevent it from standing out from its cousins with a more chic treatment, both inside and out. But, as our illustration suggests, the silhouette of the Peugeot and Opel from which it will come should be easily identifiable, its parents having developed this project in a hurry.
Much more modern than the current one, the new Ypsilon will also be available with a new generation 100% electric engine, while its 3-cylinder thermal blocks will switch to 48 V micro-hybridization.
New Lancia Ypsilon price
Launched in 2024, the new Lancia Ypsilon should increase its price list compared to the current one, sold very cheaply in Italy. It will suffer from the move upmarket wanted by its progenitors who, in a way, will bring the late DS3 back to life. We can expect an entry-level price of around $ 19,000.
