In 2022 VW wants to rock the pick-up market with the new Amarok. A successor will be developed in collaboration with Ford and may share a platform with the Ranger, which saves costs. VW recently published a teaser photo showing the new Amarok as a testosterone-powered off-roader.

Exterior & Interior

The new and second generation of 2022 Volkswagen Amarok pick-ups are expected in 2022. This alliance will aim at the integrated planning of machines, components and technology with the aim of reducing costs and covering almost all markets in the world. However, the Amarok is not the only commercial vehicle to emerge from this alliance.

These 2022 Amarok photos are based on the official teaser released a few months ago. The front view is very muscular with chrome detailing and large air intakes. More variants with small and large cabins, with rear or all wheel drive, will be launched. For the interior, we will have fully digital instrumentation, manual or automatic gearbox with reduced gears. The length of the car will increase by several cm, for the sake of comfortable space and load capacity.

  • Mojawe Beige
  • Reflex Silver

The engine offer will be broad and should increase in the petrol proposal. We’ll probably have 2.0 TSI 4-cylinder and 3.0 TSI 6-cylinder engines with power from around 200 to over 300 HP. This will be joined by a diesel unit of 20. TDI Evo and 3.0 TDI with similar output. A more powerful variant will be offered with the R trim and will have high performance. A Ford Ranger pickup of this kind would label the most powerful engine the Raptor.

We do not exclude that for the first time the 2022 Volkswagen Amarok will debut with a hybrid engine. The odds of seeing a micro-hybrid powertrain are very likely, slightly less than looking at a plug-in hybrid unit. In any case, for more certain and reasoned news, we will have to wait until at least the end of next year.

With the new 2022 Volkswagen Amarok, German manufacturer Wolfsburg is looking to increase sales, as the pick-up segment is also starting to expand in Europe. The target is closer to 100,000 units per year compared to the current 70,000.

Prices and arrival dates are not yet known, of course, but we assume that sales of the new 2022 Volkswagen Amarok will start sometime in late 2022. Stay tuned for more information.
