The CX-5 debuted in 2017 but it is possible that the third generation is not like that, but to put a separate point in the history of the car and name it Mazda CX-50.

Mazda executives have made the decision, according to Spyder7, a Japanese newspaper specializing in leaks from the automotive industry. Japanese companies have registered the CX-50 name in 2019, so all they have to do is press the button to continue the change.

According to the first information, the new Mazda CX-50 will use the same platform as the last generation of Mazda6. That would make it suitable for receiving inline six-cylinder engines and opening doors for hybrids, although in principle it would not have a fully electric version.

CX-50 will install four and six cylinder engines. The access model will have 184 horsepower coming from the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine and 48-volt lightweight hybrid system. The CX-50 can also have a turbo diesel mechanic with power of up to 223 horsepower and a 2.2 liter SkyActiv-D four-cylinder engine.

On top of these two will be 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder SkyActiv-X powered by a lightweight hybrid system, and also a choice of a 3.3 liter six-cylinder diesel. Presentation of the model may begin in 2021 or 2022.
