2024 Fiat Dino: Will The Sports Car Come Back Again?

Could Fiat debut with a new sports model in the coming years? The answer is unknown and, until recently, this segment of the market was likely to be absent. However, something could change with the birth of the mega group Stellantis, whose industrial plans will take shape from 2023.

The arrival of new technology, new platforms and the push from PSA France could push the Turin brand to change its own and its future plans. Therefore, starting from 2024 there may be surprises.

At the turn of the 60s and 70s of the last century, Fiat launched the Dino, a sports car created to “help” Ferrari’s cousins. In fact, the Maranello company needed to build a number of “Dino” engines to get approval for the homonymous model in the Formula 2 category.

The Fiat Dino was produced in more than 7,600 units, with coupé and spider bodies, with 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines with 160 and 180 HP.

How can a new Fiat sports car be reborn today? By leveraging the CMP platform, the new car can take on dimensions similar to those of the 124 Spider. Therefore it could be a front-engined baby supercar with a length of about 415-420 cm, with two dry seats. The car can be born only in sharing with other projects, for example with the new Peugeot RCZ or the Alfa Romeo baby sports car.

Using the French platform, one could start with the attack engine represented by 155 HP 1.2 PureTech, and then move up to 180 and 225 HP 1.6 PureTech. A fully electric version will also be priced on the market, with more horsepower than the 136 engines offered on the Peugeot 208, 2008 and Opel Corsa today.

Such models can also look at the same Abarth version with more power and aesthetic detail that is custom made. It would be great to see this car too with the coupé bodywork. We repeat, until now there is no certainty about the arrival of the Fiat sports car. We hope that over time a light will open up. Stay tuned with us.
